Twenty years ago today 3,000 people perished in the attack on New York’s Twin Towers. Politicians responded by waging a vengeful “War On Terror” that killed at least twice that number of US military personnel and something like 500,000 civilians. They would have us believe this was a proportionate response. It obviously was not.
We must remember those who were killed in the World Trade Center that day. We must also remember those who were killed as a result of successive governments seeking bloody revenge (and oil) for two decades afterward.
So, to them all: RIP.
